The Arabuko Baobab house is complete!! It will officially be opened to the public by September in this year. We hope to be able to raise about Ksh 300,000 (£3,000) from the Arabuko Baobab house. This is definitely a step towards sustainability of the ASSETS project.
Arabuko Sokoke is one stunning birding site and the Arabuko baobab house overlooks a seasonal pool visited with a wide array of birds as well as other wildlife.
Leading to it is a 2km nature trail which weaves through the sparse brachystegia woodland where you can be lucky to see all the five globally endangered species of bird as well as the Golden-rumped Elephant shrew scurrying beneath the thickets. This opens up into the cynometra woodlands which exposes you to the wild Africa, quite a breathtaking experience if it is your first time there as you follow animal trails, dodge and duck as you make your way to the tree house. As you walk along the trail you are also presented with the problems facing the forest and the need for conservation of the forest.
A visit to the tree house in all is a contribution to children’s education and conservation of Arabuko-Sokoke forest which is the our ultimate goal.
